KATIE ORR | ACTRESS

Simply Katie.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be some sort of artist. From pop star, to film maker, to interior designer--you name it. Creativity was constantly flowing through me.
You could say I was a late bloomer when it came to theatre. I wasn't one of those kids who was doing community theatre since they were ducklings in "Honk". My first show was a white-washed, small town production of "The King and I" my freshman year of high school. (To be clear, I was unaware how inappropriate this was at the time), but ever since, my passion for theatre only grew.

After the experience I had those next four years, I realized that this was what I needed to do. Theatre not only brought me joy, but it was a place of sanctuary. Dubbed the "weird kid" in junior high, I went through some rough times, but theatre was always there. The arts provided me with a sense of belonging. That was when I made it my mission to provide that same sense of sanctuary for someone else: to bring insight or light to the world through theatre in any way I can.
From there, I decided to attend Stephens College with an emphasis in Acting (and basically anything I was willing to dive into). I was very fortunate to receive diverse training in many facets of theatre on top of my specialized training in my area of study. While at Stephens, I performed in shows from Godspell to Twelfth Night as well as stage managed, designed for various productions, and served as Public Relations for our student-operated theatre company on campus. In three short years, I received well-rounded training that provided me with a drive that stands out compared to other graduates (not to mention opportunities to work with incredible faculty and guest artists such as Elmore James, Carol Shuberg, and Lee Heinz).

As a theatre advocate and native St. Louisan (my town was close enough okay?), it has been my dream to bring local theatre into the limelight. That is why I am back to my roots furthering my mission as a committed actor, artist, and advocate in the St. Louis community.
